Matching Speakers to LM386

After lots of searching and reading and in an effort to avoid unleashing the wretched blue smoke, I would like to ask if I have this straight.

IF I have two 2.5 watt 3.2 Ohm boombox speakers and if the LM386 has a 4 Ohm to 8 Ohm range, can I assume if I hook them up daisy-chain style that it will make 6.2 Ohms making them OK for use? can resistors be used adjust this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    •  Yeh, I saw this one awhile back. Fell in love with it immediately. Been meaning to tell you for awhile - I like your work. Very  nice work.

      Thank you for the info.

  •  Thanks for that tip, Brian! Coincidently, I am making a smokey from one of your layouts. Gonna try to add a volume to it since none of my CBGs have a volume control yet.

  • Yea, those are good, do not pass on any Sony made speakers. They don’t fool around? I don’t use anything under 2.5 watts for LM386 amps. Way better than the half watt speaker that’s in a Smokey?

  • Don’t worry, you can’t set anything ablaze with a half a watt & 9 volts of power? And don’t worry about the ohms difference, its a Lo fi amp, not crucial?

    • OK, thank you very much! So, then I can use one 3.2 Ohm speaker? (My preference. Two amps!)
