I'm suprized at the lack of activity in here. I thought this would be one of the busiest groups. So anyway, my latest build is from wood saved from the trash trucks grip. Over 100 yr old black…Continue

I seriously thought that this would be a more active group. After all there is so much "treasure" thrown out everyday! Anyway I recently found boxes of old brass plumbing fixtures in a storage unit I…Continue

I find some of the best stuff while out walking the dogs. Here are pics from this morning. 10 heart shaped ring drawer pulls. Nice and strong. Antique looking hammered finish. You'll be seeing these…Continue

I plan to turn my pine bits into lapsteel type 2 stringed diddly bows for friends. But I need to figure out how to build little distorted amps from spare parts first.
I also want these things to be self contained and run from phone chargers, maybe I'm dreaming but they would make great birthday/Christmas presents.

I live in hope

I saw this 2cm x 4cm bit of pine sticking out of a large bin today and thought "that's mine", went over to pull it out and found this little dinky 21" child's acoustic. The bridge is coming away from the soundboard and it's dinged and scratched but result! :)

Yesterday I found a Denon PMA 480R.

I will give it a couple of days in case it has got any rain in it, let it dry.
If I can't get it working it is filled with lots of bits of metal, pots, resistors, wires, etc etc etc..

Score!

Got a box full of 8 track tapes yesterday. I have a player that still works, so a trip into nostalgia is in order for the weekend with The Doobie Brothers, War, Stevie Wonder, Carol King, Linda Ronstadt, Chicago, Elton John and Neil Diamond. Even got the Saturday Night Live tape with all the greats on it.

I was on my way to the scrapyard with a truck load Friday and saw a stereo on the roadside. It was a Pioneer stereo(all in one) in a cabinet with separate 3-way tower speakers and turntable. Got the speakers and turntable.

The speakers look good and work/sound good. The turntable needs a belt and a power supply(runs off a 12volt DC walwart). Probably will sell the speakers( 150watt 8ohm w/2-6" woofers and 1-3" tweeter) because I have a great pair already and stereo speakers don't last long hooked up to guitar amps. The turntable will be fixed if the motor runs. If not, the aluminum top disc will be perfect for a Resonator build.

Found a satellite dish yesterday. it has a 2 piece adjustment on the back side of the dish with degree markings. I though to myself that could come in handy when try to make degree cuts or layout. I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

The dish would make a nice resonator cone. Kinda big(about 2 ft. diameter), but a smaller one would be good. Maybe I can cut this one down some.

Today I got 4 x 14" sq teak textured (with probably plastic coated paper) 4mm thick hardboard type compressed cardboard/sawdust boards. Not impressive but very nice for backs for my baking dish experimenting.

Yeah!!!

Lol. Well I'm not exactly joyously enthusiastic but they I'll come in handy. :)
