I've just discovered that security door electro magnets make good pickups! Maybe a little heavy for a cigar box based design but fine for a solid plank.

any one ever combine a didly bow with an e-bow . that would be a fairly simple build . just have a deep base with a cut out for the ebow . may be make a "carriage" for the ebow , so you could slide it up and down , you could easily make a one string
