So, I just strung up my 2nd cbg, three string fretless, and I used a bolt for the nut. There is a buzz at the first and second frets that just drives me crazy, and thoughts on how to fix? Other than that it's a great little guitar, sounds great plug
This is my first build. Made it with my Dad. Plays like an angel and growls through my 15watt Fender. I've been playing it through an old Jen Dynamic Sustainer pedal and it screams Garage. It can hold its own without the pedal though. These guitars a
I was sitting in my lab looking at my old Squier p bass( that I hardly play at all) and thought could the pickups be used for a 4 string CBG ? Anyone tried this yet and if so what did it sound like?
After a gap from building due to phd studies that left me with no spare time, its time for me to build again, this time with more ambition than before. Basically, i want to do some 6 stringers (eeeeckkkkk). The first time i do this i plan
Well, not really. What I'm wondering is how I can cut fret grooves without another expensive tool for now (I just dropped a hundred on an amplifier, and my wife is still smiling but let's not push it, ok?)
so i bought some poplar 1 by 2 , cut it to fit the box , cut the box , just like in the how to . now i am noticing this 24.5 scale . does that mean the distance from the nut to the bridge is 24 and a half inchs ? cuz if so i need to cut 4 inches off
Not to sure how I feel about it. The string height is higher than I wanted. Needs a string tree. Middle string pops out. Sounds great but I need to redo the bridge 'cause it buzz's a little. Im also experimenting with strings. I have on a .026, .036,
Many thanks to everyone who posts pic.s of there work. I am no carpenter and wouldn't call myself a musician so it's pretty cool I got this far. This is five days of work (2 hours a day before work give or take). I still need to finish the wood, dri
First build is done, now I'm fine tuning the set up and hoping you folks can help. The nut height seems ok, but I'm afraid my brilliant idea of using the top plate from an old harp won't work on this fret-less and fingerboard-less guit. It looks gre
i am confused cause i read a post were the guy only had a piezo , like me , and he did tone n vol , but said that the volume only worked at 1-3 oclock and the tone did nothing .
i could try this my self and see , but i have a back injury (PAIN) and
Working hard today. I've done alot today,... I've shaped the back of the neck, I've dry fitted the neck to the box, added extra bracing on the inside of the box, drilled for sound holes and sound holes (candle cups) were added and glued in.
I just finished watching Bill Jehle's DVD. He used a routing table to taper his neck. Do you guys taper? If so, what options do we have other than the router table? I am very limited on tools and have only a rotary tool and handheld drill as far
I have been given some gift cards to home depot and was wondering this: If you could only have one for building cbgs which would it be? a tabletop band saw or a scroll saw?
I have heard arguments for both and want to make my choice wisely.
Finally have my neck shaped and sanded. I'm going fretless on this first build, so I'm considering burning in "frets" and position markers. Anyone tried this? Wishing I still had that woodburning kit I got for christmas 40 years ago! What should I us
I have a question for you all. I have this cigar box that is real old (15 cent per cigars old), I love it but the wood is extremely dry to a point that it would almost turn into powder, and I'm wanting to strenghtening it so it will vibrate good so t
I wish i could go to home depot and pick up some red oak or poplar, but they dont have home depots here in norway. It's been really hard to find wood here and if i do it'll most likely not be good size for a cbg neck and i dont have access to a table
