I found a couple of really cool items at Goodwill the other day which I would like to use in a build (or maybe more than one).
First was a 10" diameter x 5" deep x 1/2" thick solid wood salad bowl.

The third image shows the base for the bowl, ~9" diameter x 5/8" thick:
along with an aluminum bowl, ~8.5" diameter at the top, about 1" deep.
I can see several options here:
- The base is too thick to use as a soundboard: can I possibly thin it, or should I just convert it to something like a cutting board?
- Find some way to saw the body in half to create two rings, each ~ 2.5" deep. One could be a banjo body, another a tamborine?
- Use the body to make a tom-like drum?
- Try to make a banjo / guitar with the whole body?
- Use the bowl as a reso in either the 2 1/2" or 5" bodies?
I'm open to other ideas: "Fire when ready, Gridley!"
