For a bit more of that "down home" feel, I have been using vintage wooden thread spools for the volume control knobs. These are available by the dozens on e-bay, both new ones for crafters and old ones for collectors. I even saw some made of walnut.
The hole in the middle is a bit too large so I just wrapped a bit of tape around the post before pushing the spool on.
I also cut the spools down a bit because they seem too tall.

The built-in mini-amp runs on a 9v battery. So I put in the on/off switch to save the battery. I should probably find a wooden dowel or something to put on it instead of the red plastic.
The 1/4 in jack is just supplimental, in case I want to run it through an amp and not use the built-in.
There's a picture of the innards of the thing on my page.
Excellent idea, thanks for sharing.
Would you mind posting a few more photos of your CBG's?
They look super-cool!
thanks again

That as a type of perforated sheet metal that was laying around our shop. I've seen it at our local Tru-Value Hardware in very large sheets. Something like 24" x 36". Its was kinda pricey around $30.
This guitar has a built-in amp and speaker, so I needed something to protect the speaker.
