Dog bowl resonator

Hi everybody: I'm building my first dog bowl resonator and I have made the hole to the dog bowl, it fits ok but my question is: Do I have to secure it with screws or glued to the top of the box or will the string tension keep everything in place?

  • ive made a couple with both screws and glue. both sound good, no buzzing.

i preferred the look of glue (or rather the lack of screws)

    • I've finally glued the bowl, I like it more than the screws and I have to admit that screws seemmed too difficult. Thank you all.
    • Since the bridge will be pushing down on the bowl, it won't shift anyway... glad you are making progress... pics?
    • I'm pretty happy with the result I've enjoyed the process.

  • You could always just try it with string tension alone, then tweak as needed if you don't like the sound.
    • Thank You all for the information :-)
  • Screws would make it easier to adjust or repair later (vs glue), that was my logic at least.
  • When I made mine I let the string tension hold to bowl in but was getting to much buzz out of it. I'm in the process of making anchors to screw thru.

  • It is all about the buzz. My last one I used tacky glue around the edge... since it really won't move out of position, I think you can just do what you want...
    • Thank you John, so now I have to decide if I use glue or screws. Maybe glue would be easier...
