1st CBG in Progress

Many thanks to everyone who posts pic.s of there work. I am no carpenter and wouldn't call myself a musician so it's pretty cool I got this far. This is five days of work (2 hours a day before work give or take). I still need to finish the wood, drill a few more holes and wire it up. It is red oak, brass rod cut to length, sanded and super glued. The fret markers are 22. cal. rimfire bullets. Bridge, saddle and nut are bone and red oak. The scale is 25 3/8ths copied from my acoustic guitar. This is not a kit. Again everyones pictures are sooo helpful. I will use the vps200 from jjb electronics. (thats a 2 peizo rig)

Please check out my page for the rest of the pictures. I didnt want to clog up this forum with all mine.

  • Hey, That looks realy good. I like your idea of fretmarkers. I also use oak for my neck, but mine is white oak with a black walnut fretboard. Nice and sturdy. I like it!
  • Very nice work, great details...
  • Very nice job for your first build.
  • Strap buttons. You need some strap buttons. In keeping with your fret markers, I'd suggest either 9mm or .45 cal.

But looks good. I can tell you put in time leveling those frets. That will make a big difference when it is played.
  • I wouldn't make any apology for craftsmanship, if I were you! This is a great job. I like the way you've supported the neck - and your fingerboard is beautiful.
