Good idea John.
I did intend to make a bone bridge for mine but the nail I used temporarly worked so well that I just cut off hte head and kept it!
My mahogany neck was a piece of drift wood that was actually submerged in a rock pool when I found it!It took about three years to dry out but I think using things like this is what makes cigar box instruments fun.
As for suppiers I'm in the UK so unless some Bits join I won't psot anything just yet.

Hi. Just joined this site. I have been looking at doing ukes for some time. I have a number of regular ukes in their different sizes ( soprano, tenor etc.) and a couple of old ones I have done up including a 1940's JMG made here in Western Australia. While looking for parts and plans I found Hana Lima 'Ia in Hawaii. You may have seen it, if not have a search online. I found some nice supplies there and some friendly replies. Worth a look.

My granddaughter saw my Cigar Box Guitars and asked if I would build her one for Christmas. She's only 5 so I was thinking that a uke might suit her a little better.

I saw a few supplies on ebay that looked promising.

I was wondering if anyone out there knows where I might be able to purchase a copy of John Mayes "How to build a Cigar Box Ukulele"? I need to give it as a holiday gift.

Yep - saw that on e-bay too. Here's some places to check. I bought a kit from mainlandukulele.com, but didn't have everything one needed.
