Hi, Jillian.
You know, I know just enough guitar or uke technique to know that I'm not very good at all . . . . but since I started building just a few months ago, I have spent more time playing and gained a greater understanding of how an instrument works. I feel a bit musically "unlocked" since I made my own instrument. I encourage you to keep strumming those chords. Figure out how to play a quick major scale . .. . . you appreciation will only deepen.
I agree with that Randy, that works without question.
I took a "Manitoba" Hall Brolund workshop when he had a gig on the Cape and the one thing that I learned was: Everyday play 15 minutes, 5 minutes work on the left for chords, 5 minutes with the right for strumming and fingerpicking, and 5 minutes play something that makes you happy. He said every day 15 minutes and in a year you could go busking on the street corner for tips and fake it and no one would know. Pretty far fetched but nearly true. Also you will find that all too soon the 15 minutes will become a half hour without batting an eyelash. Also, also, find a Uke ensemble near you and join. Have fun Jillian
Oh by the way..........love your avatar!
The "x all the y" meme is everywhere. I just adapted it for my new addiction.
Jillian,
This is a great start for your first build. Nicely done.
Tom
Very nice job. Be careful, both the building and playing are addictive.
Thank you all for the positive feedback. It is far too late to warn me about the addiction. I am hooked and now have purchase enough materials to build at least four more. Also threw together a diddley bow the other day just to celebrate finishing the uke. The diddley bow is made from all found materials from my garage.
Order99, LMAO.
