Ive meant to ask earlier, but now that its been brought up. Are the electronics in those buzzers (in my case I occasionally pick up the wireless window alarm buzzers from Harbor Frieght when my RadioShack is out of stock of piezos) good for anything on a CBG or amp? I got a small pile of them going and didnt want to toss them if they could be used.

Sometimes too the piezo buzzers will have some extra components in the plastic housings. Don't worry about that stuff. Just toss it (or keep it for something else) and save the piezo element. The other stuff is just to drive the buzzer when its hooked to a battery.

Diane, they are the same.If yours are in a plastic housing carefully break the shell apart and free the hidden piezo.

I was at the Radio Shack today to buy some piezos transducers. The only thing they had was piezos buzzers which I bought. I want to know are the buzzers and the transducers the same? Can I use them? Thanks for your help.

Probably, but it will be trail and error.... I'd give it a try before I just gave up on it....

Yep I have a few soldering irons, question is can it be repaired without ill effect?
Comment by Mama Mojo on April 26, 2010 at 1:03pm
Mr. Toad, the placement of the disks matters - keep them separate and equal in the box lid and you'll get the full benefits of using two piezos. you are trying to pick up the vibrations from a number of areas on the lid for the best results so keeping them separate will work best. If you look at my first build in my photos, you'll see the placement on my box lid - I did that after a lot of experimentation and also after buying another great sounding CBG that had a similar placement of the piezos.

Tracy, do you have a soldering iron? They are cheap, and you could easily reattach that lead.... you'll need it to securely attach the other ends to the jack anyway....
