Not worth starting a new discussion thread over, but just quick question.
If I'm using a magnetic pickup, do I need use electric strings, or can I use steel accoustic strings (probably 1 wound and 3 plain)?

Dumb and basic I know.
Thanks

This web site has a ton of information on making piezo pickup's from several different materials and how to apply them. http://windworld.com/

That would be great Wes. I would suggest actually starting a new discussion up above so they dont get lost in this never ending comments section.

Hey, by the way, on a related trip, some of the guys in the UK group have stumbled across a cheap and effective amplifier.

With the Soccer/Football world cup on, everyone is making cheesy toys and accessories. One of these is a C cell powered Bullhorn/Megaphone.

I've bought a couple to play with, but some of the UK guys have already proved the concept of, snip of the mic, solder on a jack and play. I've done mine, but have only just wired up the guitar and don't have a cord yet. Will hopefully get one today and see if the stick sounds any better with electrikery through it.

They range from £2.99GBP to £4.99GBP depending on where you buy. They are bound to be much cheaper one England crash out embarrassingly in the next week.

OK, going to go with a nice smooth layer of contact adhesive, should cover well and give a little damping too.

Carl,
There are many ways to secure the piezo. I, as well as others use hot melt glue and cover the entire element in glue. It is believed covering the element helpd eliminate feed back issues. Others will also secure the element with double sided foam tape and then cover it with more of the foam tape to isolate the feedback.

OK, I have two different sized piezo elements. Plan is to place them either side of the neck inside the box, Smallest one next to the thinnest highest string, largest one on the other next to the bassiest string.

I was going to wire the two red wires together and on to the switch and the same with the two black wires onto the jack.

Now, gluing wise, do I glue just around the rim of the element, or all across it so the whole element is secured to the box face?

Also, I have silicone sealer, contact adhesive, or white glue available. Which would be better.
Cheers guys.

Off the top of my head I'm not sure whats in the buzzers. The ceramic capacitors can be used as filters when attached between pin 5 and ground when useing the LM386 op-amp chip. But this is usualy a .1 microfarad cap and I'm not sure what size is used in the buzzers. A 10 ohm resistor is often used in series with the cap by the way.
