Btw... I meant to mention that I will either be using a gold painted bolt for the bridge or a wooden bridge with a pop rivet pin for the strings to run over top.

I am planning on using a brass hinge for the saddle.  I didn't even thing to just anchor (or solder) a wire to a screw used for the saddle.  I guess on "traditional guitars" the saddle is the bridge which often included the string anchors.

As far as the single wire... I think that makes the most sense and is probably what my buddy was referring to when he said to make a "bridge" to solder all the wires to.  A wire would be simpler than using a piece of metal like he originally suggested.

Thanks Wayfarer, that's answered a question that cam to me in the middle of last night. I'm using a wooden box, and have lined it with copper foil. The meter tells me that the jack is earthed to the foil and the pots are too, as the shafts touch the coil. I guess all I have to do is earth the screen of the pickup and the bridge to something and I won't meed a rats nest of wire.

I have to admit that I am using Chinese made pots and I've heard that a proportion of them do burn out if you hit them too often with the iron.

I'll try that over the weekend. I need to rewire my latest as somehow, the volume is always the same even when the pot is fully rotated. Tones alright, so for the rewire I'm gonna take my time and not try to do it at stupid o'clock in the morning
