More Help for Added Electronic Installation

Here goes nothing! I built a poor mans guitar from Shane's book. Complete with equalizer and rod piezo. Now I want to add a humbucker and a psycho knob. looking to keep the equalizer I have all the parts 250 and 500 pots, caps three way switches and psycho knob battery holders . I'm confused on whether this combo will work and or how to wire it up. Should I dump the equalizer on the piezo or keep it. Tone knobs or not. Three way or just two volume knobs. Help I'm confussed

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Anny suggestion for cap size on the tone pot? I'm using a Gitty Bucker I have 250 and 500 pots. What pot should go where?

    • Always 500K with humbuckers, .022uF/22nF capacitor will prevent things from becoming flat or muddy. A 250K pot with a humbucker will always sound like something's missing?

  • You can mix piezos & humbuckers easily with a typical 3 way (on-off-on)switch wired (piezo-both-humbucker) but you need a tone pot on a humbucker to prevent it from being too muddy or flat? Keep the preamp, but beware piezos get weird with high gain circuits like the psycho knob, so expect some noise?

    • What are your thoughts of driving the Gitty bucker through the psycho knob and leaving the piezo clean?

    • You may want to try both, just to see if the noise level is an issue, you may get lucky?
