First wiring job . !
I am almost ready to do my very first complete wiring job, on my own build.
It will have a lipstick neck pickup, and a strat type pickup at the bridge, with a 3 way toggle switch SPDT.
Neither of the pickups are humbucker type, and just have hot and ground wires.
I have some fender type 250k tone and volume controls ( volume with capacitor connected.
I am considering putting some kind of metal device in the box to connect all my grounds to including the telecaster bridge I have fitted.
Can anyone help me with a sort of back of fag packet drawing bearing in mind my lack of knowledge in this area. I have been playing guitar, and gigging for over fifty years, so I am proficient with soldering.
I really want to keep the system very basic, that is not too many controls, as I have done the front of the box in copper sheet, which I have patternated with a flame. And I don't want it to look too cluttered, even just 2 volume controls with the 3 way SPDT
would work. So if any one can help I would greatly appreciate it.
Be gentle with me because, it's my first time lol.

Just saw your post "Surface Mounted Pickup" where you talked about the Lipstick Tube pickup being damaged on/at the casing. This could very well be your problem. If the case was damaged, the wiring on the inside could be damaged as well. The windinds could be shorted to each other or to ground.

Try reversing the leads to see if it made a difference?

It's a plastic bodied lipstick pickup so I've ordered a metal bodied telecaster type. Should be here on Thursaday.
But thanks anyway.
