I just finished a 3 string. I added the “psycho Knob” from CB Gitty. when I try to get amplification, the PK must be on the pass through mode or in other words, no distortion or effects.  It should have been pretty simple.  Input to the PK comes from the mag Pup and after the tone and vol pots.  I have a Sterio Endpin.  I am very new to electronics and had never soldered anything before this glorious CBG obsession.

If anyone can tell me how to troubleshoot it or were I can get the information to figure it out, I would greatly appreciation.  Thank you

Why are you using a stereo jack? If you are using it because that's all you have available, make sure you are using the tip connection out to you amp through a mono cord.

Thanks Paul,   It is what I had.  I was unsure of the hook up.  That is where I will start and I suspect you right.  Thank Brother

i alligator clipped all options on the endpin.  Still only the pass through works.  It also has a disturbing hum.

Good evening, Tim. The PSYCHO KNOB has labels indicating where to solder each wire. I would switch to a MONO jack (I've experienced the stereo jack problem), then check your solder joints. Also, make sure you soldered to the jack correctly (live to live, ground to ground). THAT may be your issue. GOOD LUCK!

thats why I thought it was a no brainer thanks Henry

I believe this is the problem. A mono jack in a stereo plug is going to ground the extra "sleeve" lug and that will kill what's wired there being grounded by the cord's ground circuit.

If you’re running a battery, you’re gonna need the stereo jack? Why? Because the middle lug is gonna be connected to black lead of the battery snap, forming a ground connection. When you take the cable out of the jack, the battery shuts off?

thanks. That is important for me to remember  But there are 5 settings on the PK, the pass through works, but none of the effects settings works.  Is there a way to test the PK, to make sure it is not defective?

It could be a bad PK.

You could try it out as a separate effect pedal with another git to see if it works.

I thought it might be bad too.  I like your idea of using in a preamp.

Paul thanks for all the help that you freely offer to many people

No problem, it's good to help people. What goes around - comes around.

The PK's pass through works allowing the pickup to work right?
