Added the CB Gitty “Psycho Knob”

I just finished a 3 string. I added the “psycho Knob” from CB Gitty. when I try to get amplification, the PK must be on the pass through mode or in other words, no distortion or effects.  It should have been pretty simple.  Input to the PK comes from the mag Pup and after the tone and vol pots.  I have a Sterio Endpin.  I am very new to electronics and had never soldered anything before this glorious CBG obsession.

If anyone can tell me how to troubleshoot it or were I can get the information to figure it out, I would greatly appreciation.  Thank you

  • The PK's pass through works allowing the pickup to work right?

    • Correct, but any other setting is silent.   It’s not that the different effects dont work well, they sillence the mag pup

    • Either the PK is wired up wrong(silencing the pickup) or the PK is defective.

Can you post a detailed pick of the PK's board/wiring where it's wired to the pickup harness? A pick of the PK wiring instructions might help too.

    • I spoke to Nick a CB Gitty and tried a couple solutions.  It didn’t help, so they are sending me another one.

Let me say, I would not get technical help, customer service or likely a satisfactory conclusion with a Chinese supplier.  There is a reason to purchase from C.B. Gitty and if they sell something to me that costs a couple pennies more, it’s the cheapest insurance I could buy.   Peace of mind - priceless.  Ok I’m done

      thanks Paul

    • Good deal, the folks at CBGitty are great.

  • It could be a bad PK.

You could try it out as a separate effect pedal with another git to see if it works.

    • I thought it might be bad too.  I like your idea of using in a preamp.

Paul thanks for all the help that you freely offer to many people

    • No problem, it's good to help people. What goes around - comes around.

  • If you’re running a battery, you’re gonna need the stereo jack? Why? Because the middle lug is gonna be connected to black lead of the battery snap, forming a ground connection. When you take the cable out of the jack, the battery shuts off?

    • thanks. That is important for me to remember  But there are 5 settings on the PK, the pass through works, but none of the effects settings works.  Is there a way to test the PK, to make sure it is not defective?
