  • That was a real nice slow blues!

  • At our last CBGC meeting on 2/2/2018 we Jammed to several songs.  Below is a rough video of one.

  • I posted a video of my build #5 on my page. Check it out.

  • I will be bringing a 4-string slide action acoustic guitar converted from a regular 6-string acoustic to our August 5th meeting.  It is very easy to play.

Bring stuff for "Show and Tell".

  • CBG Builders & Players,

The Carolinas Box Guitar Club meeting #19 will be Saturday August 5, 2017 at 11:00am at Taxco Mexican Grill [Mint Hill location], 7106 Brighton Park Dr., Mint Hill, NC across the parking lot from the Harris Teeter.  We will continue having a monthly meeting on the first Saturday of each month.

Our purpose is to help members develop skills to build and play the 12-bar Blues on their 3-string, fret-less, electric, box guitars.  We currently have 18 on our email list.

Bring a few of your projects for show and tell.  As usual we will discuss individual building and playing issues.

For our monthly playing topic, we will use our picking skills to play a shuffle beat for a 12-bar blues chord pattern.  The rhythm will be as follows:

    1 + - 2 + - 3 + - 4 + -  Beats expresses as "one and ugh, 2 and ugh . . ."

    A   A D   D A   A D      Notes

Again, we will have special guest, Steve Chapman, at this meeting sharing his jamming expertise.

This should be another exciting meeting.

    Fred

  • We will be have a special guest at the July 1st meeting.  Steve Chapman a guitar player and member of the Charlotte Blues Jam Group will be sharing some of his expertiseHe will show us how he organizes his song book, will give us a few common Blues rhythms to add to our skill set, and a few recommendations for jamming.

This should be an exciting meeting.

  • I sure hate that I'll miss this one! Ya'll have a good time.

  • A lot of Blues soloing can be done by playing notes from the minor Blues Pentatonic scale.  At this month's meeting of our Carolinas Box Guitar Club we will be learning how to play several notes of the minor Blues Pentatonic scale in any key without learning the scale.

I hope to see you all at meeting #18 at 11:00am on Saturday June 2, 2017 at Taxco Mexican Restaurant in Mint HIll, North Carolina, USA.

As usual we will have show and tell so bring your guitars and amps.
