AZ CBG Group

WELCOME! Anyone is more than welcome to join! This is a place for all Arizona CBG builders/players to get together! I am hoping we can all get to know each other and maybe start something local here in AZ, be it a once a month jam, or what ever!

By the way we have organized a cigar box guitar, folk and bluegrass festival for January 21. Details are on our band website: www.azcigarboxband.com.

Hi all! Just joined the group! I'm in Tempe, so if there's anyone else in the East Valley, it'd be cool to meet up for a jam. I also blow a bit of Blues harp (more so than cbg, actually) so I wouldn't mind just blowin some harp with some of you cbg players!

Cheers,

Isaac

I started building cigar box musical instruments in January ofnthis year. Since then we have formed a business AZ Cigar Box Guitars, LLC. We make three, four and six string guitars; banjos; Dobros; lap steel guitars; ukuleles; banjo ukuleles; and just about anything with strings.

I was fortunate enough to meet Pat Cook at the Flagstaff Folk Festival and to hear his group play. He makes some awesome guitars.

I would like to see more activity among the Arizona CBG group. Possibly a monthly informal meeting to get to know one another and share building tips and procedures. I would also like to see our AZ group organize a CBG festival with performances as well as workshops and vendor booths. I would-be happy to help coordinate this event if there is enough interest. My wife Sandy Hathaway is a professional folk singer and guitarist (www.sandyhathaway.com) so we attend all of the major folk festivals in AZ. One thing that I have noticed over the years is that the Phoenix Metro area is very week in the folk arena. So then time is ripe to organize a festival featuring cigar box musical instruments.

I would also like to start a cigar box band so if anyonenis interested in participating pleasemlet me know.

You can find out more about us at my website (www.azcigarboxguitars.com). I hope that I arose some interest from the AZ Group.

Please give me a call at (602) 312-5339 to share thoughts and ideas.

Take care,

Jim

Hello AZ players. Sorry for being MIA. I am a bad host, but I hope some of ya connected and started to jam. I am in MA dealing with some family biz and I am not too sure when I will be back in the valley of "hot as hell". When I do get back I will plan a CBG BBQ. Hope all is well.
