Wiring diagrams (again) - Tone, no volume.

Apologies for askin about wiring again, but Iv searched high and low and cannot find anything on wiring just a tone pot on its own, with no volume pot. Seymour Duncan has every other diagram, but I rarely use the guitars volume so Im loathe to fit one which will just get in the way... Il have a play around with it, see if I can sus it out - if not hopefully someones already done it! Cheers

  • So I rewired it the way Ted suggested and that works great too... though with my limited knowledge Im buggered if I understand how!!
    Thanks again Ted
  • Great, thanks Ted :o)
    I'll pull it apart and try it this way too too, see if its any different. I am getting some interference with the current set up when the gain is turned up, but this could well be my knackered old marshall, or maybe I need to earth the bridge (its a bolt seated in a lump of mahogany) - hopefully though a quick rewire will solve it... Il update soon!
  • Cheers Doc
    I had another play with it thinking about what you said, and hey , it works!!

    If anyone else is doing this but is having trouble visualising it, as I was, heres how.

    Working left to right on the upturned pot;
    1st lug on pot goes to pickup (white wire in my case).
    2nd lug has the capacitor to the back of the pot.
    3rd lug goes to the jack.
    The other wire (mines black) goes direct from pickup to jack.

    I realise a lot of people already know this but it might save someone a headache in the future
  • Just use a diagram that has both and leave the volume pot out.

    The volume pot has 3 wires coming into it. Just ignore the one that goes to ground and make the other two a single wire.
