This will probably be one of the weirder first time posts. I coach a middle school science team, and this year there is a new event that challenges the kid to build a home made instrument that can accurately play a scale, and a simple tune, then tes
In process for about 6 months, actually started before I reverted to CBG's.
I think you can see some of the influence from CBG's that I've continued to use in my guitar builds. My standard base for a build is a Telecaster, simple and easy to bui
I'm working on my "prototype" wine box, which is actually quite big. When I chose a 23'' saddle length, it look likes the bridge is too far from the end/bottom of the box (not a big issue but it's less sexy)
I'm building my first cigar/wine box guitar and as the lid is a bit concave, it doesn't perfectly align with the box. I'm wondering if I should ensure that the lid is airtight to maybe improve the sound or reduce vibrations or something ?
...a baritone CBG. I have a big square thin box like Shane's and I'm going to try making another successful hardwood/plywood hybrid neck like the one on the Rocky Patel 12-Year cbg I just made.
been a long time people, I been busy and building a lot of things which for administration reasons I shouldn't post on here, but I got something new I gotta show off and get some advice on.
During the 2020 lockdown, I built my 6 String/coursed string
Getting close to working on my fretboard (25.5" scale) and am going to use a zero fret. I have jumbo for that. I'll take recommendations for the rest of the frets, what size? One factor may be my playing style.Arthritis prevents me from making chord
Been gone a couple years. Felt I had reached a plateau as far as CBG skillset, so I've been building Telecasters (couple pix below). Occasionally, CBG influence creeps into my geet builds.
Building got me through the covid mess, but recently I'm noti
I’ve just finished breadboarding the amp and the funniest thing, not only did it ‘work’ but I got 2 radio stations to boot! Yep on the same power in line to our shed I’ve got an AM radio and an FM radio plugged in so I unplugged both but still got bo
i'm as guilty as anyone of being distracted by everything that this site and youtube offers to beginning players, me flitting from one shiny one object to the next, trying out all that i can, very briefly, before moving on ... and never really lear
Is anyone familiar with the CAO Flattop 770 box? Would it be a good option for a guitar?
The top is very thick, so I don't think you would get any resonance. I'm thinking about a magnetic pickup for slide playing, so I don't know if box resonance is
Seems like a pretty simple thing, but I just need someone to say “yes”. When using a threaded bolt as a nut, I need to shave about 5cm off the first fret. That’s half the bolt width. Yes?
i’ve built 4 CBGs now, all with pickups of some design, but I tend to play, and I use the term loosely, acoustically. However I plugged my latest project into the amp built with the CB Gitty kit, and when I pluck a string I get a loud “quack” bef
