Hi Folks
What styles of music do you play on your CBG.
On youtube there are alot of blues music played on the CBG.
But I don't have the blues, I have a good family, nice home, an ok Job, nice dog, and I live in Scotland, nothing to moan about.
My kind of music is folky trad (Celtic) some bluegrass and country,
Recently I have been playing some slow Scottish and Irish tunes using a slide and fretting,
Sounds good to me.

Hi Jerry
I love country music, practicing a some country for my 50th birthday jam session, most of the songs I'm doing are sad.
Like Blue eyes crying in the rain, Take these chains from my heart, Long black veil, Banks of the Ohio.

Hi William
I tune my 3 stringer DAd that's 1st 2nd & 4th from a set. My 4 stringers 1st 2nd 3rd 4th tuned in open D. D F# A d
or DGBD like a banjo easy to play banjo chords and flatpicking.
My next project is a Tenor guitar tuned like an Irish tenor banjo GDAE, to play traditional music.

I don't have my CBG built yet, but when I do, I plan to experiment with a variety of styles. My plan is to tune the guitar in standard EAD with the hopes that my string tension is tight enough to drop down to DAD on ocassion. I'm also still contemplating 4 strings tuned EADG so I can make simple chords and maybe try some old rockabilly type stuff. There is also a guy that goes by albinowolf on YouTube who does a pretty wild Heavy Metal song on a one string diddley bow.
I like the blues but I do play country also. You don't have to be blue to play the blues.

I just have to wake up every morning, look myself in the mirror... oh man, I got the blues! then I gotta go to work, I still got the blues, I look to my boss, and I feel like I'm dying! then I get home and my lady says: "I don't know why you spend so much time in that computer (with the nation)!" late at night, when you go down the street and cross with a hot chick with her boyfriend, ugly as hell, you can hear me singing: "I'm so lonesome I could cry..." As you see blues is all around! just kidding, cheers!
Just play whatever you want, there's no rules! But the blues are killing me... and I like it!
Tam,
Thanks. I think I got it. The McNally Strumstick comes with .010, .014 and .023 strings. I gather these are banjo strings. They work for the GDG, DAD and CGC tunings. I think each of those last letters would be an octave higher.
I'm trying to work on standards -- like Over the Rainbow, Wonderful World and Disney/Show tunes to play.
Hi Dave
My CBG strings are 012, 016, 032 thats guitar strings 1 2 & 4 DAd. I use banjo strings on my Strummers with dulcimer fretting.
I like zero frets on my instruments. On my 3 string CBG I have used a spoke from a umbrella, cut a small piece
and slid it over the Zero fret, making it slightly higher for sliding.

Or banjo strings like here:

I'd like to have a strummer that I can easily change melody from the high string to the low string (from d to D)
I don't mean to get OT.
