This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Brian, My Katana amp has that DS-1 in it and it works well. It also has the Blues Driver in it which I use more of the time.
Back in the 80's and 90's, I had a DOD American Metal that I liked a lot. Saw a used one on FB Marketplace for $75 used(heavily), wasn't needed now. RunOffGroove had a good Distortion pedal I wanted to build as something to play with, but didn't get to it. Thunderbird was the name of it I think. They also had a Supro type pedal that sounded good.

Got this a few days ago at the Goodwill Store for 5 bucks. It's a art supplies box and the dimensions are 14.5"long x 9"wide/tall x 1.625"thick. These boxes are built with s 1/4" thick perimeter pieces and 1/16" thick ply top and bottom pieces so a good box for vibrating top area. Not very thick though, but similar to a lot of Cigar Boxes.

One plus is the attached handle.

Paul, the original 56’ lipstick was Alnico VI break bar, they were bought surplus just like the lipstick tubes back then. They used Alnico II,V, & VI, but Alnico V break bar seems to be what Nate Daniel settled with?

Brian I can't seem to reply to any of your posts by hitting the reply button for some reason.
I wasn't aware of the other magnets, just the A5's.They must have settled later on the A5. GFS uses the A2, but they are overwound like most of their stuff is and the A5 magnet have that sparkle/jangle like the Filtertrons and Trisonics have. Not like you can take them apart and swap magnets.LOL

If I do have to settle on the GFS pickups, I'll just be getting the neck and middle pickups. I saw that Dano has now wound their pickups hotter than the originals and not sure of the magnets.

Someone always comes along and improves that which doesn't need improving. ;)

Yea, it’s doing the same for me too Paul? most people just think they were just Alnico V. In fact the earliest guitars had a solid maple body, but he decided to spearhead the less is more design to prove that he could make an affordable instrument that played well since he was making good quality affordable amps for Silvertone,Kay,Harmony already? The new Dano does have higher resistance on the pickups, they don’t specify anything but the resistance on their site, so I’m wondering if they’re Ceramic? The first reissues from 1998-2001 made in Korea/Indonesia had Alnico V pickups with vintage specs? The Bridges on the new ones are also updated & fully adjustable? the mystique to the Danelctro legacy has always been its vintage vibe, I’m just glad to have owned some of the real American made Danelectros.

That 59' DC Dano that Jimmy Page has  is always in the back of my mind to get some day.

I have one, it has a an original Leo Quan Badass bridge just like Page’s? I’m also converting a black U2 from 98’ with a Badass bridge? Oh, the vintage specs were 3.2-3.9K ohms, the first reissues from 98-01’ measured 3.8K?

Another part of the Danelectro sound is the Tone Capacitor, they use a 0.1uF capacitor instead of a 0.05 or 0.02uF that is standard to most companies? Fender also used 0.1uF capacitors from the late 40’s to early 50’s on Tele’s & Esquire’s before changing to 0.05uF capacitors & 0.02uF later in the CBS era?

.1 cap will add some darkness to the tone, but sometimes brings out some rich sparkle on those low wind pickups. That's a good idea to keep in mind. Thanks for that info.

Nice. I'm wanting to do a Tres Cubano guitar(20" to 23" scale with 3 pairs of strings tuned like a CBG) and put a set in a Strat that I have. May give the Gitty pups a try, they are at 3.2k.

I need to build me a test rig for pickups. I also need to quit adding more projects before I finish the ones I'm on. ;)
