This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?
I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.
A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

That's gonna be kool, I had a 1967 Vox teardrop with all the knobs n switches on it when I was in my teens, definitely wow factor!
I loved that Vox Phantom that Brian Jones played.
That's a good one too, but there's a rat's nest of wires under the hood for all the switches & pots, a real headache if you're doing a total rewire!
I don't take pictures the first time I try a thing, but I will when I do this again in about a week.
I used my LMS3990 - the buy once, cry once mini mill other owners should have bought first - to notch the neck for my next build. fast, painless, left a smooth finish. you can notch the ends with a 1/8" 3mm wide shallow cut to support the ends of the lid, then notch the middle deeper with a large mill, in about two hours. add a notch for the pickup.
you don't need the 3990 if you are just doing guitar necks, but it's better than "I could have had a V8". I'm thinking that a 3018 CNC engraver would be very good if you are in the habit of making guitars.
Hi Brian,
No , not heard of Graphtech , but just looked them up. yes, thats what I bought years ago for the banjacaster, but I don't remember wher i bought them.
My memory does work, sometimes. Not always. Were you the one posting about using diodes and two volume knobs ? Where can I buy those diodes? Radio Shack is long gone, and i live just south of near nowhere. I would like to use then for the currant Paint box build.
Kool, I had a Strat in the early 2000's with those saddles, it was awesome, you could run the piezo & two magnetic pickups at the same time with zero buzz or hum! I kick myself for selling that one!!
Hi, Yes, The 5-way allows picking and choosing. Question. When i run all pups together the overall volume goes down. Is that normal? I must have bought those from StewMack or 1st Quality. But no hum. The pups are Select, desinged by EMG. With bar mags, string spacing does not matter. The tremolo lever is cut short, but still works. I did put in a seperate battery cut off switch.
Any feedback on diodes?
Not sure what's happening there, but I know that those active EMG pickups are low impedance & the piezo pickups are high impedance, maybe the mismatch of impedance between them is the problem? Not sure about diodes you're speaking of, do you have a link to the discussion? Maybe search the net for a supplier close to you that does online sales. There are lots of electronic supply companies on the net, search Mouser, Digikey, Arrow, Farnell, but I think those bigger ones have a minimum order, there aren't as many of the smaller no minimum sellers, eBay has small lot sellers & amazon sells electronic components too?
Hi Brian,
never heard of Tusq . Where do you find one of those ?
K&K is only about 30 miles away from me, but I have not been for a visit. Their pickup on my dobro works almost too good. i need to use a belt mount pre amp just to tone it down.
Yes, those "ghost" pickups are small piezos that replace the adjustable steel ones on a Strat.
Tusq is made by Graphtech, I'm sure you've heard of them? They're a little pricey?
