i just received a message from ebay about one of my CBG listings....what's going on folks...?

"After reviewing your eBay account, it looks like you haven’t followed our Embargoed Goods policy. We understand that you may not have been aware of this policy or that this may have been an oversight, so we're including some policy information to help you with your future listings. We also had to take the following actions:
- Listings that didn't follow eBay guidelines have been removed. A list of removed items is available further down in this email.
- We have credited all associated fees except for the final value fee for your listing(s).

eBay doesn't allow the sale of items to or from countries, organizations, businesses, or individuals where local or EU embargo regulations exist, or where  the United States government has an embargo. This includes Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Sudan, and other countries. This significantly restricts or bans all trade with these countries. As a United States company, eBay is bound by the government’s restrictions regarding these embargoes.

For example, we don’t allow items from Cuba, such as Cuban cigars, to be listed or sold on eBay. The only exceptions are items defined as "informational" or "licensed" by the U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control.

For more information on this policy, go to:

Please understand that you listed an item from Habana ( cuba), which is considered Embargoed Goods. Embargoed Goods are not permitted to be listed on eBay.co.uk due to various restrictions placed by the US government for embargoed goods. We sincerely request you for not relisting such items on the site. I?ve noticed that this is the first time you breached eBay policy; please take some time to read our help pages. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via chat or email. If you see an item that isn?t allowed, it?s probably because we aren?t aware about it. We encourage you to report us such questionable listings through report item link located on the item page.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with this information and be sure that your current and future listings follow these guidelines. If they don’t, they'll be removed and we may, at our sole discretion, decide not to refund your fees. It could also result in additional actions, including loss of buying and selling privileges on eBay.

If you have any more questions, contact us:

Here are the listings that were removed:

Ouch. Looks like they're cracking down... did you mention that it was a Cuban box in the description for the listing?

it is one of a number of very old boxes i bought here in the UK, but wondering where this leaves some builders..?

does it say on the box cuban cigars etc.

you may not have notice it..

other cbg's that you have for sale I can't see anything mention cuban made etc.

just had a look on the cbg that I bought off you.

and yes it does say made in Habana.cuba on the front as well as other labels on the git .

flor de juan lopez git

that could be the one that is giving you grief Steve.

just had a look at your listings, box's they're in dominican republic .

so it appears that your classy lady is the one that they picked on due to cuban labels.

most of my boxes if not all are from honduras or dominican rep.,  this particular one is from havana cuba -  listing removed...:-(

yes Steve but that one box with cuban written all over it is all it need to get it removed.

so to keep them happy don't put it on ebay.

easy way round it make another with a different label on and once sold send them the cuban one.

till you've sold them all.

just copy the label  and photo shop it remove all cuban etc and put in your own wording but make it look similar to cuban one. just make a one off. punters wont be bothered I'm sure as long as it is still a good guitar.

cunningly clever... ;-)

well I have been called smart ass

from what i  hear  ,   Embargo   bans  from  cuba  are   in  the process  of   being  lifted as we  speak . (in the  US  anyway  ) so  things  may  soon  be    safe    for  sale  ,  but  may take a while  for    certain     business  policies    to  make  the  change  .

sadly   , with the  vastness  of  ebay   and listing  content  ..  it  is  most  likely  that someone  has  ratted  you  out  /   reported  you  personally  .. .

this   exact  thing  has  happened  recently  on  here  .

all  in  the  uk  it  seems .

Now you know how the guys at Gibson guitar felt when the US feds raided their factories and seized their fretboards without warrants or even an explanation. (They were eventually returned without apology or compensation for any financial hardship.)

Steve, It's not worth the fight, remove the listing. I had a beef with their "Policy Nerd's" a while back over a wrist watch. They're like the gov't , they may not always be right, but they're never wrong. After doing the suggested fixes 3 times, each fix with it's own "punishment" for non-compliance and each punishment being removed after re examination of listing, I gave up and pissed away about 8 hours of my life that'd been better spent building a  CBG, drinking or sleeping.

i've given in sheepishly, got enough to think about atm, onward and upward! :-)

I think its a badge of honour, wear it with pride.

"Slowpaw's cigarbox guitars. Too hot for ebay!"
