Hey guys,

I am in the process of making/tuning up my diddley bow and I looked at some guitar tuner knobs and im wondering how I can put them in the board without making any cuts on the board (maybe one or two straight cuts is fine). Ive been wanting one(s) with more than one place to screw it down and I found these kind...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6pcs-Sliver-Acoustic-Guitar-Machine-Heads-K...

problem I have is how im going to screw them on flat and tightly when there is so much stuff below the screw spots.

thanks for the help.

not  quite  sure  what you are asking here ,,  but  to  simplify   things    in an answer .

you   drill a hole   through the  neck  ..   insert the  shaft  through   from the back  ,  then screw down.

i think i understand what you are asking, the screws will point UP through the mointing plate with the post also going up thru a hole that you will have to drill to suit ,prob about 1/4 in,all the exposed gears will hang on the underside of your headstock

First, I went and ordered a set of those, they are sweet! Second, there are many ways you could use them on a dhow depending on the design of the head, if there is one. Like below, all you really have to do is drill a hole. Something I've done is mount it "upside down" so the gear is on the top and the post sticks out the back, drill a small hole to pass the string through to the tuner post. That gives a really good"break angle" over the nut. I'll see if I can find a picture and send it.

The other option is 2 holes:  Drill a large one down vertically.  Then the 1/4" hole horizontally.  The tuner mounts horizontally, with the string captured inside the neck.  The result looks like the nylon stringed acoustic guitar, and you get good break angles.    That's what I did with my canjo  . . .

just so you guys know, my dbow is just a wood plank so there really isnt a neck. thanks to all of you though because i have figured out how to do it with your help. :D

here is one way, for a cleaner look you could run the screws up from the bottom

thanks jeff! that looks a lot easier than what I was going to do. by the way... on the site you posted a link to, what is the instrument on the chair? it looks interestingly simple.

that is a acoustic olive oil can, no pickups in that one.

Wow! Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

I have a question about the little circular piece that goes on the tuner... how do u put it on and keep it on?

if you mean the bushing that the post goes thru, drill a 5/16'' hole 5/16'' deep, and press the bushing in, it's a snug fit and that will hold it.
