So I just finished a new project, and as I did I started to play around with it. And I started to think, I have the same songs I try every time I bring an instrument in tune. I finger-pick the Star Wars main theme and “London bridge is falling down” and try the chords to the Eagles “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” So I ask the community, what are the songs you play when you want to make sure a new project is in tune and ready for the world? THNX for any replies, and this discussion is a no judgement zone. “Bad” songs might be the best ones to test our projects.

on a 6 string its either dead or alive or hotel california... to check the high strings its stairway...lol. also known to pick out a bit of pink floyd or nothing else matters...
on my CBG its tuned DAd so i usually blast out a bit of the belfast hornpipe.....
these usually get my brain kickstarted to remembering chords of other songs...
"Others come out tight and twangy and are perfect for mangling bluegrass." AHAHAHA!!!
"It’s the best excuse to keep building because each new instrument becomes the right one for a new and different song." You are so right!
Interesting, - and a topic that invites fun. Also, Nice builds you got there!
I'll give it a shot. When I first finish a guitar, I'll noodle with it until I get a little groove going. Seems each guitar gives me a unique tune that I use from then on to play on that guitar to tune it, or just enjoy.
100% with you on how each instrument has its own signature tune. Subjectively or in fact some songs just sound better on certain instruments. I’ve got one that buzzes like crazy but in a low register, that’s the one I try to play Black Sabbath on. Others come out tight and twangy and are perfect for mangling bluegrass. It’s the best excuse to keep building because each new instrument becomes the right one for a new and different song.
I guess I should show the project in question.
