Trussrod - yes or no?

Hi folks, I built a 4-stringer with trussrod, what made the neck very heavy (maple neck with oak fingerboard). Now I'm in a 3-stringer project with similar wood and I have to decide - Trussrod yes or no, any recommandations?

Nope, not needed for a three string.

No. Not needed. Didn't really need it for the 4-stringer with those woods. Maple is really stable, and gluing an oak fretboard atop that will resist any bending forces that 4, much less 3, strings will generate. Depending on your scale length and string gauges, your total string tension on a 3-stringer would only be around 55-60 ft-lbs, max...
