So we have all been there your up to the final step of mounting a regular mono output jack only to find the box lid or side is to thick to just drill a hole and be done with it. Yah I have been there grabbing the dremal and try to thin that area can be a real pain in the brass nut.
I was at Ace hardware store and came upon a plastic 1" plug they sell for 75 cents so I grabbed one drilled a hole in the middle and inserted a jack into it then drilled a 1" hole in box and this little plug just snaps in ( I did add some epoxy glue just to be sure it will not come out later down the road).
This tip may not be for ever builder but for 75 cents it beats the time and frustration of the old way of thinning the area for a jack with out a plate ( also cheaper that a plate)attached are pictures

Those are really cool. I'll have to have a peek in my hardware shop for those. Great tip.

12-pack Neutrik 1/4-inch Mono Guitar Jacks      "These jacks will accomodate a panel thickness of up to 6.5mm, much thicker than the 3.5mm jacks other suppliers provide."    They are priced at less than two dollars each, from C.B. Gitty.

Sweet mod. Do you still have the package?  Can you send a pic of that so it is easier to fine at the store?

They are in the hardware and fastener area bins at Ace so no packages sorry.

That's a great fix to the thickness issue. I've done the two sided drilling, one side bigger than the other to make it shallower. Not an exact science. My latest build is to thick for all of my electronics, pots, switch, and jack.

This is a viable option, especially since ACE is just around the corner. I'm constanly in there for CBG parts

@Timothy. When you feel you want to do something other than with Tas oak. Be sure to check out the merbau screening as I havr mentioned before. They do 2.4 and 1.8 metre. Its cheap and hard and scrubs up good.Sort thru the racks till you find a piece with no finger joins or only a few at 900 or more spacing. I sifted thru some yesterday and found a really nice piece. No joins whats so ever. Taking the hardness of ya neck wood up a few notches bears good fruit. It looks and feels good and more sustain. Off topic I know. But what the heck
