Having made a few guitars now with the string through method I was wondering about mounting the strings on the or through the top of the box lid.
Either like a normal Acoustic guitar or similar mounting.
I was wondering the stress levels and sound factors mounting this way on a cigar box?
Any hints tips advice much appreciated ,
thanks in advance.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT, NOW TO BUILD.....
I've used bridge pins and tailpieces to anchor the strings and they both work well.
With the pins add a thin hardwood bridge plate inside the lid if you're worried about strength.
With a tailpiece your bridge can be kept really simple
you could just make a pin bridge they work great on box design a piezo saddle and bridge pins if the top thickness is thin just make it thicker on bottom of lid and install harder wood for string ends ive seen and heard many a good choice i feel its way better than neck thru on that strings push on lid a pin bridge will pull different sounds tottally good deal good luck
