That was the first thing I built. I put the piezo on the underside of the lid. I play bass and had a spare bass amp so I put it thru there. I also had a Behringer Preamp booster pedal. It was thunderous. my only issue was the box liked to travel across the floor so I cut a piece of rubber shelf liner stuff to put between the box and the floor so it wouldnt move. When I was playing a duo thing with a guitar player and me on bass, the stomp box really filled it out. good…

You can also use an old speaker! Just fix it to the lid, sounder facing the lid and add a jack plug. Plug it into an old amp and you have a real bassy foot drum.

OK - I just want to get this right...cause this sounds like fun -
Build the stomp box with an input jack, and that runs thru to the output jack then a volume control on the piezo as that runs thru to the output? I've been wanting to build one of these and figured I'd need an ABY thingy but this is better.

If you put a input (thru) jack as well and add a volume control on the buzzer you can plug your guitar up to it for when there's only one amp ;)

I've done this on a few steels, so they cascade, effectively becoming a multi neck steel

I haven't built one, but I was advised to use the largest diameter piezo for better bass output. I've heard others using a speaker wired as a mic instead of piezo also.

Good luck and show us the result.

It'll work. You may want to reinforce the box if the top's not very thick. An old wooden crate works well for this, too.
