I began building stick dulcimers a few months ago and am experimenting with piezo pickups. However I am getting an awful hum from the pickup even though I have been very careful with the soldering etc. Can anyone help me with this??

Thanks for the response, no I didn't check his site out yet but I will. I am still trying to figure out in my mind how to attach the neck securely to the cigar box..........guess I need to do more research.

Have you tried this guy to see if he will ship to Canada?
I live in Canada as well, I buy my boxes at a local smoke shop. They love selling them seening as throwing them away costs them money! And as an added bonus, we can get some really nice Cuban boxes our friends to the south can't.
I may have solved a hum problem in a stomp box that I just built. I put two blocks of wood together with a piezo sandwiched in the center. it hummed a lot so I encased the whole enterior with aluminum foil and it eliminated most of the problem. I will experiment with a similar solution with my stick dulcimers.
