St. Louis MO. CBG Club/Workshop

We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area). This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

Despite the weather, had a blast at St. Louis! Got meet Justin afterward. Besides being very talented, just a real nice guy!

I love how approachable and helpful the guy is -- on top of being incredibly talented. He took the time to give some helpful feedback on our builds, even after his last set.

I learned something about playing slide from his Cigar box guitar class. Been doing it wrong and having problems. Now I have the right technique. Totally awesome! He not only talked about technique but the differences in open tunings. What I thought was really cool is he touched upon something I had experienced. This happened the very first time I tried to play on just three strings. The fact that having less strings is challenging. Because it makes you get out of your comfort zone. His class was geared for any level of guitar playing. Guy knows his stuff. Justin is totally down to earth. Great guy!

Just so you know, the fest hasn,t changed the June Club meet. We will still meet on the 21st at 9:00am. Hope everyone can make it, and same as last month no excuses without a note from Mom!

Well, Mr. C., Bob and Debbie, as well as myself enjoyed sharing and playing. Mr. C was trying to teach us some new stuff, not sure how much retained, but had a good time just the same. Hope more can attend next month.
