Rod piezo low volume
Hi guys I'm on my second CBG , on my first I used a coil pickup but on this one I decided to play around with piezo pickups. The disk I found worked very well, heaps of volume but had that annoying clattering sound, almost too sensitive. So I experimented with a under saddle Rod pickup as I thought that these were supposed to be far Superior but to my utter dismay I can hardly get any volume out of it. It's not a crook rod because I tried several of them, purchase from C.B. Gitty. The best I can get is laying the string directly over the rod and even then the old ac30 needs to be cranked up.

Any enlightening suggestions would be much appreciated.

Rods work off of direct pressure from the strings, if the rod is just laying in the channel you have it may not be picking up string vibration. I guess another thing would be I have never used wood for my saddle, I always use metal, bone or something of that nature. I'm not saying you can't use wood I am just wondering if that is muffling the string a tad. I don't use rod's all that often because I like using disc's. I just use a flat peice of wood for my bridge and have a hollow space for the disc piezo to lay in and layer some hot glue under and over. You tend to get more string vibration and less hand noise that way.
Similar to this one. If you really want to use the rod about the best advice I can give would be to use a bolt like this on and embed the rod in the bolt.
