Hi all ,does anybody here know where I can find inexpensive reso cones and coverplate with bscuit bridge ? I have been in contact with Old Lowe (love these brass cones will be buying one soon) but I am also looking for something more traditional as well . I would like to find something around 6" diameter. Any help would be appreciated !

There are cones for ukuleles.  Haven't tried them, but did a quick Google search:

Did a build with a 6" lowe cone and its fantastic.

3 of my 5 cbg's have used the 6 inch lowe cone, I started the 4th today after giving them all away at Christmas. The first used no resonator (nor a cigar box, just all hand made), and I made a quick one using a paint can lid. The cones sound fantastic. The paint can lid, from a medium can, not the really small ones, sounded quite a lot more banjo like than anything else, but did sound good. In truth the lowe cones are so much easier to mount that the paint can lid took longer.
I do both bolt and glue the cones down, seems to help the sustain and tone.

Please let us all know how it goes if you use a traditional cone.
Just wandering if a Baby Moon hubcap would make a good reso cone?   I almost picked one up off the side of the road the other day.  I'm afraid it might be to thick of material.  Any one heard of this?

Hi All.

FYI. I have a list of resonator cone makers/sellers on this CBN discussion group: Home Made Resonator Boxes 101. If you know of any more, let me know and I can add to the list. The site also has some other links of interest as well.

Darren at Back Porch Mojo has a cone and cover set. http://shop.backporchmojo.com/Resonator-Cone-Set-BPMCONE.htm
I buy my cones (he also has cover plates) from Frank at Republic guitars

Good luck getting cones & cover plates from Backporchmojo. The proprietor has recently closed down his business due to health problems.

I just finished a resonator baritone uke that used a stainless dog bowl from Target. It has a nice ring to it, sort of sounds like a banjo. Can't go wrong for $5.

If somebody is interested,  i propose to build a soldered metal resonator.  I love tin soldering,  and can made a photo tutorial step by step.  For me is a way to "thank you everybody"  for all that i have discovered here.   Of course a very advanced cone resonator,  Helmoltz based.
