I'm tinning all the connections for the electronics for my cbt and in all of the wiring diagrams ground is just soldered to the back of the pot. But I'm nervous about applying enough heat to get it to stick with all the workings right on the other side. However, my pots (from stu mac) seem to have a tab that looks like its for grounding, can I use that? Ive marked this tab in the pic:
Solder a piece of wire (preferably solid) to the back of the pot from the bent back lug - you can then solder all of the other connections (ground, pup, jack etc) to this without over heating the pot.
If you solder correctly ie let the solder heat the metal, not the iron, it should heat and stick sufficiently in about a second, assuming that your workshop isnt at -5C like mine is lol
I've wired alot of pots, and I've had very few problems. I've had issues with the solder not sticking though, which means that in my attempts to redo that connection I have probably applied WAY more heat than necessary. As long as you don't just hold the iron to the pot for extended periods of time you'll be fine.
And LMAO Naz...
