Hello fellow CBG builders, I would like to show you all this cigarbox guitar my dad and I build in the last couple of months and tell you a bit about it. Maybe we can inspire you to build one, or maybe you have tips for us, just let us know what you think, we appriciate it! If you have any questions about my build just ask us.
Now about the build:
I hope you all like it!
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Jack & Sam Vissers
looking mighty fine ........ except .. those tuners may give you issues in the future , they "mostly" should be installed the other way with the gear wheel down.(left and right tuners ). open tuners like those sometimes pull the shaft away from the gear with string pressure instaled that way . and they strip or spinn aor skip . you can get away with it with most newer enclosed tuners , but really , the default direction is gear down .
you may be ok , they dont all fail , (in-fact some vintage mandos etc were manufactured like that ) . and a nice straight drill hole will help too . but just an fyi for next time preventative measures , or for what it's worth .
great guitar tho . great dad.son project . ;-)
Yup found out I schould have placed them the other way around when I tuned it for the first time, but it works for now and I hope it doesn't break down. Thanks for pointing this out, didn't know about it.
+1 for the volume control, and +1 for working with your father, I learned most of my best swear words this way from my own dad.
All the best from Bill. :D
Love the look, +++ for the door latch knob and the data plates.
From the pictures it doesn't look like the bridge is slanted to compensate for the lower strings reaction to being stretched down to the fret-board. Is it and the pics are deceptive, or are you finding the low string notes drift sharp as you go up?
Hey, as english is not my native language I find it hard to understand your reply, what by mean with ''slanted'', ''deceptive'' and ''drift sharp''?
Ah oke I get it, but no i didn't do that on my cbg, no isseus with it so far.
you may want to use a tuner and check if all the frets are in tune...?
Thanks for all the nice reactions!
Looks like you did a great job, love the cool details like the vol knob too!
Looks like a great project that you guys did together. Nice job!
