I bought cheaply(5.7€) used melodica. I think that this melodica is
not played much. Its in tune very well for human ear. Not 100% tune, but in tune. How I know? I controlled with tuner. think that this is typical yamaha or suzuki melodian, because there is no labels
on it. Seller didn't have mouthpieces. I didn't know that until I made bid.
I bought it because I win the auction in osta.ee(Estonian alternative to ebay).
I was thinking can I buy better reds and mouthpiece for it ?
I don't like that melodica tonality. So I was thinking to build new
housing to improve the tone. I like Augustus Pablo music very much.
Anyone any suggestions?
I can't use paypal right now. My Bank have not yet approve and made me debit card
that wroks for crdit card payments. I can buy with credit card thanks to my family members.
They don't have paypal. Whay? They don't buy from amazone or ebay etc.
Melodica is real instrument not a toy.

Maybe I can get something form hardwear store?
10mm birch plywood is not great. Still better than that awfull plastic.
Too wet wood is also bad. I think I can get spruce from hardwear store. '
Birch is bad because it playes with weather easily.
I hate that there is not better way to tune it. Because this way can only be tuned few times.
Can you get hold of cigar boxes? If not, you might be able to do birch with a spruce top, similar to a guitar. Or maybe birch sides and a spruce top and back. The spruce should be thin, like 1/8" (about 3mm).
In Estonia cigarboxes are rear. I found estonian cigar store.
I can only get what they have. They can give me boxes but can't sell me.
Some laws and stuff. So I can get box or boxes and make what I can make out of them.
Some people who buy cigars with boxes end up selling online awful condition boxes with too high price.
If I'm lucky I may get broken guitar or guitars.
I can buy best wood for guitar, Problem is that price will be so high,
Then it's better to build new one out of new melodica. 3mm birch plywood is the thinnest one I can buy easily.
I was thinking spruce sides and plywood bottom.
I think you're on the right track. Plastic is not a good sounding resonator.
Check out this page with a wooden melodica. There are sound samples about halfway down the page. http://www.melodicas.com/mylodica.htm
I know about my melodicas.
