I have built over 200 dog dish resonator guitars with FLOATING BRIDGES and sold them all. Very easy, just build your own boxes so that you can get a 3 inch thickness. Then build your neck so that it goes down under the dog dish and goes all the way to the end of the box. I build mine with an adjustment for the string height, it's a set screw on the back toward the end that changes the neck angle to make the strings lower or higher.

I did not get the sound I thought I would out of a dog bowl. I 86d the body, gave the bowl to charity, and used the neck on another git. I had some good luck though with a 4 inch shower drain cover and a tin underneath. I thought maybe the dog bowl was just to thick and heavy. I am late in on this thread, but I say experiment. I may not have done something right, or something else. I have heard others not so happy with the bowl, and some have great luck with them. I am over resonators these…

I shimmed the neck to tilt back by a couple of degrees, and made a trapeze tail and a biscuit bridge. Intonation is adjusted by moving the bridge.

It's big, it's loud, it's bloody heavy!

I'm saying it's difficult with everything straight in plane. Agree with you about raking the neck. A degree cut shim that covers the entire neck pocket/joint would do the trick just fine.

Agree, the above pic has little string break angle. That can be hard to acheive on these types of gits.
