Hi all, new to site and CBG building.I wanted to make one for my kid. Got myself a Cohiba box. One of the corners is a bit damaged but reckon i can hide that with corner protectors. Box looks like it's had my kids sticky hands on it so looking for some tips. Sand it and stain it? I was hoping to keep the Cohiba bit and words on the side really but any tips welcome.
I'd start with a hair dryer and a credit card or plastic putty knife taking off any residual adhesive from stickers that aren't there no more or don't belong.
then go to the goof-off/oops/zippo fluid/ naphtha based adhesive removers if they are stubborn and you are willing to accept some possible varnish removal
Agree with Jeff, leave the character. But if you want to get the sticker residue off you could use goof off or similar stuff. If you want to distress it a torch works great.
Got me thinking and being creative about starting with its (im)perfections instead of trying to fix or change them....yep you are right! Thanks for that

What Kigar said... sticky often cleans up with paint thinner, too... It shouldn't affect the existing finish...
