<p>It occurs to me the utility you gain will cost clarity of tone.</p>
<p>The resonating strings Do pass the harmonic to all parts of the instrument.</p>
<p>Tape would act as a dampener. Some amount of sustain would be lost.</p>
<p>Overcome that with a piezo p'up ???</p>
<p>Fun project ! All told, what better to experiment with than a cbg / cuke ???</p>

<p>I have never actually left that attachment method on an instrument that I have sold. But I have been tempted. While playing a double backed tape instrument, I haven't noticed any difference. I doubt the fretboard has much to do with the sound.</p>

<p>Speaking of glue, I was able to unglue a Titebond II joint with a little water and a liberal amount of time and patience.</p>
<p>One more thing, I have heard that the double back tape will loosen or slip and make a gluey mess in very hot weather. </p>
