  • With running the neck flush with the top of the box you will find that the bridge is very low and that there's very little "break angle" for the strings where they pass over the bridge, but it should be OK. Finish it and see how it works..then make another one with the top of the neck raised so that the surface of the fingerboard is 1/4" above the box, then see how the two compare. You'll then have the practical experience to make your own mind up which you prefer: that's the best way to learn. Get back in the workshop and do it!!!

  • Doesn't look like you have frets, so it is OK.  Personally, I like the top of the fretboard a quarter inch above the top.

  • A 2 degree neck angle would raise the bridge (and strum area) about 1/2".

  • fretless  slider ,  doesn't matter  .

flush  or above   for anything else   .

  • If you are going fretless Oli,you should be fine, but if you intend to fret it,i'd think a little more height would help in raising your bridge and improving the break angle plus raise strum area a bit

  • I personally prefer mine flush with the box but Bufo nailed the whole building process "feel free to experiment; it's the best way of learning"

  • Hi Oli, that looks fine to me. There is no reason why you couldn't make it higher if you wanted, feel free to experiment; it's the best way of learning.
All the best from Bill. :D
