Hi, I thought some of you might find this useful. I’m showing one of my acoustic builds here, but I use the same method on my CBGs.
The bridge saddle slot is already compensated at an angle on the bridge itself when I make it, so the bridge sits square on the face of the guitar, and it’s just the exact positioning I am looking for to fine-tune the intonation.
On a CBG I would move the floating bridge but angle it slightly to get the compensation needed across the strings, as well as the locating the final positioning on the top. Having already plotted the scale length I know where the bridge will sit this just fine-tunes the final positioning.
I use the same specifications of string gauge, saddle height, tuning, and action height for the setup exercise as I would for playing. I also keep in mind that with six strings the action setting will change some.
