Thanks for your response. That's what I was king of thinking... I guess I'll have to make a better one with a larger speaker. I couldn't beat the deal on this unit, free! Lol. It was a good one to learn how to rig it as an amp.

<p>Well I'm not totally sure what it is, but it sounds as if either you are over-driving the amp circuit in the cassette recorder or you have pushed the speaker beyond what it can reproduce. I would hedge more towards the amp being pushed beyond what it can handle.</p>
