I'm off work for a couple weeks and I got a lot to build. Todays build is a Diddley Bass made using a Johnnie Walker Whiskey Tin a long piece of pine and bass parts.
I'm loving this thing already, it may be the shape of the tin, but the sound is superb, the 125 gauge string resonates beautifully.
I love lowered the nut and anchored the string low to the length of pine so it plays finger style even fretless very nicely. And the Pair of 25mm piezos make it sound great through my Mustang amp.

Do you have the string going through the bottom of the tin? Or is the tin just a sound chamber?
The string goes through the bottom of the tin. everything is mounted to that tin in one way or another.
Thanks. I for some reason thought my buddy was building them wrong. For whatever reason his cans get distorted. I mean the walls collapse on them!
either can is too thin or he is trying to tune too high, too much tension. try a thinner string..
It has to be tuning too high. He destroys way too many cans.
I got lucky with this one, the tin is very thick and despite the 125 gauge bass string, the tension low enough and with the neck bracing the tin itself, it all holds.
