Just finished Wichita Sam # 204

Nothing really exceptional about it.... maple neck,  maple fretboard, built on G-rated Havanna Honey's Box... I have one of the R-rated boxes, but not ready to build on her yet  ;-)

even an older builder  can mess up a little.... I layed it out for a three stringer, then on impulse, build her as a four stringer...the headstock is a little cramped.... I should have done it as a 3+1... live and learn

What I was really after with this build was perfecting the use of aluminum channel for a simple hard tail bridge.  Got a 6 foot section from the local hardward store, trimmed it down (legs were too long) and am now experimenting with mounting...

This one seems to be working well with a thin piece of hard maple to attach to under the lid....  Back of the channel drilled for string termination, front of the channel groved for string spacing.... seems to be working well.  Pickup is a simple piezo under the bridge location.....  I'll probably advance the next one to bolt-on neck and wound pup....

the best,

Wichita Sam

BTW, She's for sale $75 plus postage..... thanks...WS

  • Probably a little muted acoustically, but still plenty for practice.....
A hardtail bridge is an electric guitar feature, so I thought to strengthen the attachment to prevent failure....
