  • Thanks so much. I have a wooden bridge so I may attempt to ground the strings at the tail piece later. I'm sure I'll be back to ask how to ground the strings to the tailpiece later. Thanks again.

    Yes (assuming the magnetic pickup only has 2 wires). The piezo will have 2 wires (1 hot - to the pot lug and 1 ground- - to the back of the pot usually) so just solder the magnetic hot to the lug and ground to the back of the pot.

    Many people also ground the strings via the bridge or tailpiece to decrease the hum (you could try it first without and see if you are happy with the sound).

    You can get some sound with normal acoustic strings but electric strings will sound better.
