I am in the preliminary planning stages of a show in Greenville, SC sometime in 2009. If you are interested in attending/playing please contact me at mikeman70633@yahoo.com.
This is just preliminary planning to see what the interest level is.

Slim lined up a show in a cigar shop - I think it was actually a recurring thing - and I drove there once and sat in with his band and they backed me up for a couple of songs. Only 5-10 in the audience as I remember. And no sound system - it was very raw, but a lot of fun.

How well attended was it when you performed there?
Tom,
The Main Street Jazz would be a great idea if the CBG'ers could play pickup if a band canceled. But there would need to be a lineup. Would it be an idea to contact whomever organizes this event?

Hey Doc, I totally missed your reply back to me about CB Slim's move to Massachusetts. To bad a Greenville show is a no go. I'd love to have attended. How well attended was it when you performed there? Greenville has been an up and coming music city with the Handlebar bringing in some top rank performers. And, some local and national acts have played in the open air on Main street during the summer. Every Friday night, for 28 weeks, the street is closed down for what they call, Main Street Jazz (not just jazz though). A Friday night with CBG players and bands would be cool. It pretty much guaranties hundreds in attendance.
As I understand it, Slim lives there, but goes off on contracts for work that take him away for long stretches.

Was he from here or in the area?

Hey Tom,
Last I heard from Slim, he'd gotten a job in MA so had to drop this. But I'm sure he'll be back there eventually and will actually organize something. My first ever CBG show was one in Greenville that Slim organized.

Yeah, any word on this? Anyone organizing this? There are about 5-6 of us in the upstate/WNC area. I bet we could set something up somewhere. Nothing fancy.

The date of course would be the clincher, but I’d make the drive from High Point. Greenville is a beautiful area. I’m originally from the NC Mountains so it is still low land to me.
