I'm also working on my first CBG. I haven't got a clue what I will do with it when done, because I have no music ability, but, this is a fun project and it will not be my last CBG. In fact I just bought 2 cigar boxes off e-bay. This one I build my own box because I didn't have a cigar box. Anyway, I have Jelly Belly Musics DVD on making them. Great DVD, by the way. Bill used the little round things off of old guitar strings to run his strings through at the butt of the neck so the strings would not dig into the wood. I do not have any of those. What else do people use?

Thanks
Paul

take apart sum rivets
Got it, thanks
I just lay a piece of buffed junk bicycle spoke into a groove across the neck, just above the holes where the strings come through.
Thanks, another good idea

I used a piece of antler glued to the area just in front of the string holes. There is a pic on my page.
Hey, I was just telling my son, two days ago, I like to try to make a bridge and nut out of antler. I'll hace to go sheck it out.

thanks
I usually use small washers or a little peice of sheet metal with holes drilled in it.
Thanks Joe, for the input. Yesterday I was going through the photos on this site and wow, the possibilities are unlimited. I need to release my imagination. There are all kinds of things to use, forks, hinges .....
If you get stuck, find a haberdashery shop that sells zips, buttons, ribbons, fabric etc or a craft shop - the always sell what they call eyelets, they come in loadsa sizes (I used 3/8" I think), colours, shapes - my mrs brought me a box of 100 mixed coloured ones for less than £2 :o)
