<p>Hi Robbie, the better the contact the bridge has with the top the better the response. One would think that putting a wood riser under the steel bolt might detract from the steel -ish sound, but resonator guitars have a maple bridge saddle on a metal support. I'd try a nut on the other end first and see what performs the best.</p>

<p>Yes. Aluminum will make a great ground. If your worried about the corrosive reaction between aluminum and copper use a metal wire to make your ground. Uncoated metal florist wire would work. Usually found at any Wallyworld. </p>
